You have full control over your Mageiro account and data. This page explains how to permanently delete your account directly from the Mageiro mobile app and what happens to your data during and after the deletion process.
⚠️ Important: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Please make sure you truly want to delete your account before proceeding.
1How to Delete Your Account
You can delete your Mageiro account directly from the mobile app in just a few steps:
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Open the Mageiro app on your iOS or Android device
- Tap on your Profile tab at the bottom of the screen
- Tap the Settings icon (gear icon) in the top right
- Scroll down to the "Account Actions" section
- Tap "Delete Account"
- Tap "Proceed" to initiate deletion
- Check your email for a confirmation code
- Enter the code in the app to confirm
💡 Note: You must be logged in to delete your account. If you've forgotten your password, use the "Forgot Password" option to reset it first.
2What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, the following information is permanently removed from our systems:
Personal Information
- Name, email, username
- Profile picture and bio
- Account credentials
- Contact information
Your Content
- All recipes you created
- Recipe photos and videos
- Comments and reviews
- Collections and bookmarks
Activity Data
- Likes and saves
- Follows and followers
- Activity history
- Search history
Preferences
- Dietary preferences
- Notification settings
- Privacy settings
- App customization
3Data Retention and Grace Period
30-Day Grace Period
After you request account deletion, we provide a 30-day grace period during which:
- Your account is deactivated and hidden from other users
- You cannot log in or access your account
- Your data is marked for deletion but not yet permanently removed
- You can cancel the deletion by contacting our support team at privacy@mageiro.com
After 30 days, all your data is permanently deleted from our systems and cannot be recovered.
What We Retain (Legal Requirements)
In accordance with legal and regulatory requirements, we may retain certain information for a limited period:
- Transaction Records: Financial transaction logs (if applicable) may be retained for up to 7 years for tax and accounting purposes.
- Legal Compliance: Data required for ongoing legal proceedings, fraud prevention, or regulatory compliance.
- Anonymized Analytics: Aggregated, anonymized usage data that cannot identify you personally may be retained for analytics purposes.
4Impact on Other Users
When you delete your account:
- Your recipes will be removed from the platform (other users will no longer be able to access them)
- Your comments and reviews on other recipes will be deleted
- Other users who followed you will see that your profile no longer exists
- Any recipes you saved from other users will remain in their accounts, but your saves will be removed
5Before You Delete
Consider These Alternatives
If you're considering deleting your account due to too many notifications, you might want to try these options first:
- Disable Notifications: Turn off push notifications in Settings → Notifications
- Take a Break: Simply log out and come back when you're ready
- Delete Individual Recipes: Remove specific recipes instead of your entire account
Export Your Data (Optional)
Before deleting your account, you can request a copy of your data by emailing privacy@mageiro.com. We'll send you a download link within 48 hours containing:
- Your profile information
- All recipes you've created
- Your uploaded photos and videos
- Your activity data (likes, saves, follows)
6Third-Party Data
If you signed up using Google or Apple Sign-In:
- Deleting your Mageiro account does not delete your Google or Apple account
- We will notify Google/Apple that you've disconnected your account
- You may need to revoke Mageiro's access in your Google or Apple account settings separately
- Photos and videos you uploaded are removed from our servers (AWS S3 and CloudFront)

Can't Access the App?
If you're unable to log in to the app to delete your account (e.g., lost access to your email), please contact us at privacy@mageiro.com with:
- Your registered email address (if known)
- Your username or profile name
- Proof of identity (for security verification)
